Motion woven sports shorts with contoured yoga waistband and underlay shorties (PDF)

Featuring: relaxed around the hips, fitted around the waist with a contoured yoga waistband, high/medium waist sports shorts. Shorts come in two lengths. They can be made as a single layer shorts or a double layer shorts with one piece legs (no side seam) shorties, that come in short, medium and long lengths. The waistband comes in wide (high rise) or narrow option (medium rise). Optional zippered side pockets. The yoga waistband requires knit fabrics with at least 50% horizontal and vertical stretch, but the shorts can be made either with stable knit or woven fabrics (recommended).

The sizing is based on low waist and hips measurements.

SIZING

The pdf pattern comes in US0-US30 sizes in PETITE, REGULAR and TALL height range.  

DIFFICULTY

The pdf pattern is an advanced beginner to intermediate (5-6/10)  level and requires some sewing skills, time and patience to learn new techniques.  Takes 4-10 hours in total to finish (time may vary depending on your chosen options, skills, equipment and supplies). We recommend to split the sewing in stages across 3-4 days.

FABRIC

For the shorts: for casual activities and light exercising choose light to medium weight fabrics like cotton voile, tencel, linen blends and similar fabrics. For regular and high intensity exercising use special athletic quick drying fabrics like peach skin, woven nylon fabrics, non stretch / low stretch mesh, nylon poplin, nylon dobby and similar fabrics.

For the shorties and waistband: light to medium weight knit fabrics with at least 50% horizontal and vertical stretch and medium recovery like performance, athletic and swim fabrics, Cotton Lycra and similar.
